justinv 4 1 Cars Posted February 13, 2007 Tried installing a gti speedo cluster in an XS, all went good and everything worked but when i came to start cranking was present but car did not start, then noticed that when i disconnected the rev counter plug from the cluster all worked besides the rev counter obviously. Would there be a problem in the rev counter itself or maybe wiring from the harness ?
Guest cknotty Posted February 13, 2007 The harness shouldn't be a problem. I did exactly the same thing when I had my XS, just plugged it all in and everything worked, bar the oil pressure and oil temperature gauges of course. There was even a choke light too! The rev counter gets its signal from the distributor, so if there is something dodgy in the rev counter/instrument cluster itself, it might affect the wiring and distributor somehow, preventing a spark. It might be worth finding/borrowing another instrument panel to try out. Chris
justinv 4 1 Cars Posted February 13, 2007 got it from a scrapyard and this 205 has no windshield and cluster not in its best shape so worth trying another cluster
