Jer309GTi 3 Posted February 11, 2007 I have a set of 206 14" steelies to go on the XS, with 185/40-14s on. The fronts fitted fine, but the back tyres hit the beam. Obviously I need spacers of some kind, but unsure of which ones to get and where from. Can anyone help me out please? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
sonofsam 5 Posted February 11, 2007 Can you offer the wheel up, so as not to hit the beam, and measure the gap you have between stub axle and inner wheel surface to determine how much spacing out it needs? Spacers usually come in 5,10,15,20,25 and 30mm thickness. Or do you know what offset(ET) the wheels are? if you have a search on here mate, for 'hubcentric' 'wheel spacers' 'adaptors' they should be a good few companys name listed for purchase of spacers, I know, becuase I have listed quite a few myself Hubcentric's are the ones to have really as the have a 'register' for both wheel and stub axle and will avoid any misalignment wich causes wheel wobble. Are the GTi drums more than 10mm or so wider than base model? I'll have a search for wheel cylinder compatibility etc, but if I can't find any info I'll start a new thread. Guest smokinslim Posted February 12, 2007 The cylinders are a different shapes on xs/base models and gtis, plus gti shoes dont sit correctly on lower spec backing plates because of the difference in thickness - i tried once lol. So if you want to fit gti drums you also need the backing plates etc. You can probably still get the lot from someone whos upgraded to discs cheaper than new hubcentric spacers. Think this will be the cheapest option tbh. Its a pain because we've only just got the tyres put on the wheels and balanced/new valves etc. More money down the drain...
