laser green 1.9 0 1 Cars Posted February 10, 2007 (edited) I've just put my beam back together. Unfortunatly I can't see the markings that I put on the torsion bars. Is there any other way of identifying the different torsion bars. I think I have found the original factory markings. There seems to be what remains of one yellow ring on one bar and two white rings on the other. ( 1 ring right hand torsion bar - 2 rings left torsion bar) Would this make sense. I never took one end of my anti roll bar and when I've put it together the holes have lines up, if I put the torsion bars in the other way round the anti roll bar will not align with the hole in the trailing arm. Would this suggest that the torsion bars are only correct the first way around. Wish I'd marked them up better now, ( I did stamp the ends of the torsion bars to match the trailing arms for ride hieght though.) Cheers Mick. pug_ham 245 3 Cars Posted February 11, 2007 Only the original factory markings if they are still visable or any marks you make before dis-assembly. (one ring = r/h bar & two for l/h is riot)t. Other than that I don't think there are any identifying marks. I'll check some tomorrow & post back if there are any more marks. Graham.

laser green 1.9 0 1 Cars Posted February 11, 2007 (edited) I've just gave the torsion bars a bit of a rub with some grease remover, the first pic shows what is left of a yellow painted ring. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b297/las...en/DSC00703.jpg The second one shows two or possibly three white rings. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b297/las...en/DSC00704.jpg I thought there are only supposed to be two rings but there you go, from looking at one of the torsion bar ends a know that it is the correct way round as it stands because I had to heavily wire brush and soak with plus gas on end to get the tosion bar out. edit; file sizes, less than 120k please. Guest Maikel205 Posted February 11, 2007 both bars have (or used to have) 3 white rings on the same place, so these are useless.
309PUG 2 1 Cars Posted February 11, 2007 Just to clarify, each TB is exactly the same, there is no left or right as you descibe them. Other than the splines will be slightly offset in comparisson with the other bar. Chris
