opened the connection up and it was the main earth wire on that connection plug, it hasnt touched any other connections just blackened the connect, spryed with wd40 but car still not starting, all i can here is the starter motor clicking, are they prone to sticking in this sort of weather?

well the battry is only about 2 months old, but hasnt had a great deal of use, although i did borrow a friends charger a month ago and give it a good charge,

i have tried jump starting it, and made no difference what so ever,

i have put a multi meter on the battery and no ignition is 12v then on crank it drops to 9v is that correct?

That is about right, but voltage is only one element needed to start you car. You would need to do a drop test on the battery to check the condition overall.

Check the engine earths are ok if you have a jump lead go from the bettery neg to a good engine earth (starter caseing, exhaust mainifold) if it started after this whould show if your earths need looking at or it could just be your starter.
