pugbliss 0 Posted February 9, 2007 Yey all Ive got a leak near the top of the sump near gearbox (as looking from the front) but i carnt fathers what oil it is as it is black. unfortunatly ive no pics at the mo but the leak spreads from the top right of the sump and goes over and down the gearbox part....or sholud i say its wet with oily crap over right part of sump and gearbox. What ikm wondering is caould i tell if its engine oil or gearbox oil by smell/touch or am i asking a stupid question?????
dommorton 0 Posted February 9, 2007 (edited) Mine kept wetting the sump with oil and it turned out to be the filler tube had split. Really could be coming from anywhere tho so needs a good clean down and investigation. Gearbox oil is usually smelly and a bit thicker than engine oil.
