Rad Fan Wiring

Recommended Posts

paul205mi16

Hi All.

Just a quicky hopefully about the sensor/resister type thing and the wiring that goes to it.

(It is located usually at the top right hand corner of the radiator in a 'U' shaped clip.)

The reasonfor this is the fan is not coming on at all- i have tested the fan and it does work!

Does anyon have a pic or a good description of the wiring plug that connects to the sphere shaped resister, I do not have a resister in that position at the moment and from reading through past threads via the Search function,I have found out that there is two of them-one for the lights at the front of the car behind the bumper (which i have) and-one cliped onto the rad.

I have two small 2pinplugs/connectors floating around behind the headlight area, but dont know which is the right one?

Also Does the resister have 2/3 pins?

Many thanks

Paul.

3 pins but only 2 used in the plug, standard female spade connectors do the job.

so the resister has 3pins-which is a female connector, and I then have to plug one of the 2pin male connectors that i have floating around the rear of the headlight unit?

I have 2 male 2 pin connectors one is red and i think the other is yellow-maybe one is for the front driving lights which are not in use?

no, the connector is on the fan loom, its brown and has space for 3 wires but only two are used.

I borrowed this pic from the net and as you can see the resister is located at the top of the rad under the scuttle pannel.

Soo welshpug are you saying that the resister has 3 pins but the connector i should be looking for has a 3pin pin plastic male block-but only 2pins are used?

If so i cant seem to find a 3 pin type bluck connector.male insert behind the headlight.

Thanks for any help.

P.s -anyone know the wire numbers?

Paul. :)

Resistor has two pins and if missing will only disable the slow speed fan, not the high speed. Can either fit a resistor or put a shorting link in place (in which case the high speed fan comes on earlier).
