jim205GTI 3 Posted February 8, 2007 Been offered a set of goodridge rear brake lines for a 1.9 ( from the m/c to the caliper) , so before buying them i would like to know if anyone could foresee any probs of running braided rear lines and just the standard copper piping etc on the front? its just that the front piping is in good nick and don't see the point in spending money on something that doesn't need replacing The guy who has only has the rears but is selling them cheaper then it would cost to get new pipes made up
mitch205gti 1 Posted February 8, 2007 Don't they replace the flexible sections!
jim205GTI 3 Posted February 8, 2007 No this set ( might not be goodridge mmm) run from the m/c straight to the caliper....... no need for compensators as i am running the 307 setup
Anthony 1,003 Posted February 8, 2007 You mean full braided from MC to caliper (ie no copper pipe at all), or just the usual Goodrich kit that replaces the rear beam and rear caliper flexi rubbers? Certainly no problem if it's the later, but if it's the former then you'll also lose the compensators - not an issue (in my experience) if you're running big calipers up front like GTi-6, but won't be pretty if you're still running standard brakes as the rears will lock first. Jrod 7 Posted February 8, 2007 If you don't have them Let me know who it is and I probally will. Am after a set of just rears and want to run them in the car so they sound perfect for me.
jim205GTI 3 Posted February 8, 2007 Yep ant's got it right... my phrasing is so bad!! its fully braided lines from mc to rear caliper! Thats cool if thats fine i'll go get them sorted
sutol 0 Posted February 8, 2007 If you are using long lengths of braided then be sure to fasten them securely especially in the places where you can't see them as they tend to move about when pressure is applied and can chaffe through over time.
Jrod 7 Posted February 10, 2007 Does anyone know where I can get these as I have a set for the front but want a set to match on the rear.
Sam 4 Posted February 10, 2007 If its any help Jordan, I had those made by rally design and they were super cheap. You just need to send them, the ends that are needed.
Jrod 7 Posted February 10, 2007 Do you mean you just need to send them some old ends so they know what you need or you need to buy new ones and send them?
jonnie205 1 Posted February 10, 2007 Best to go and get the pipe and ends from earls or goodrich and make the lines up yourself, then you know they will fit the car perfect. I can make them up for you and fit them if you like but you will need to drive to my workshop
Sam 4 Posted February 10, 2007 I just sent them some old ends and told them the length and then I got them back shortly after.
