smckeown 1 Posted February 7, 2007 I'm looking to expand the gearbox ratios spreadsheet with all the other variations of rations available to the BE3. If people could like the other cars using the BE3 box, I can track down the rations and get a good list going. I'm assuming rations from all these other BE3 equiped cars are interchangeable. cheers sean
Guest Ray205S16 Posted February 7, 2007 (edited) I have a sheet in Excel. I will mail it to you! grtz, Raymond Edited February 7, 2007 by Ray205S16
Anthony 1,003 Posted February 7, 2007 I've got the ratios from a ZX Volcane and 405 SRi boxes somewhere which I'll dig out and send over
pug_ham 245 3 Cars Posted February 7, 2007 I've posted the 405 ratio's before here & a page from the ZX Haynes manual but I took the diif out of a ZX 1.9i Volcane a week or so ago & the cwp had 16 x 61 stamped on making it a 3.81FD. ZX Ratios 405 ratio's Anthony, could I also have a copy of the ZX ratio's please. Graham.
Anthony 1,003 Posted February 7, 2007 Anthony, could I also have a copy of the ZX ratio's please. What you posted above is what I've got, which clearly isn't entirely accurate if you pulled a 3.8 FD from a 1.9 Volcane box I'll have to see what's in my one, as a 3.8 FD would be ideal with 1.9 ratios for a daily-driver 1.9 8v I reckon Gearbox from a 1.6 carb 405 doesn't look bad either actually for a daily-driver, although the ratios are a little ill-spaced like an Mi box... pug_ham 245 3 Cars Posted February 7, 2007 The box from the CTi with a 3.91 FD doesn't look to bad either if the other ratios are the same as the 1.6 (or preferably) the 1.9 box. It wouldn't be a surprise if Haynes had got something wrong though. I've got the chassis number for the car it came from & gearbox code so I'm going to try the local Citroen dealers to see if they can give me an accurate breakdown of the ratios in the box I have. The limiter(6.5k) cut @ 65 in second which ties near what the standard 1.9 box give doesn't it? Should make a good gearbox for my track 8v I think. The 405 1.6 carb box does look OK also, slightly shorter than the box I have fitted to mine now. Graham.

Been on the lookout for one of them, but they don't seem to be plentiful - I think it's only the 1.9 CTi's with that box isn't it?
Alastairh 47 Posted February 7, 2007 Yeah i remember Henry yorke raving on about that box. He has a few details. Alastair

I agree they don't appear to be in a great supply but I was looking through the parts CD to check if I'd mis-calculated the ZX FD ratio & iirc there are a 205's listed which have the 3.9fd gearbox. All variations are fitted to cat 1.9's iirc & maybe the 1.6XU carb engine. Graham.

smckeown 1 Posted February 7, 2007 cheers all, I have added al lthe ratios you have listed and all others I have found o nthe forum. There are some awesome gems in there now
petert 607 Posted February 8, 2007 Here's all the ratios I know about: http://www.taylor-eng.com/gearing/205-405gearing.htm My favourite for a standard road car is still the 1.9L gearset with the 3.94 diff.
smckeown 1 Posted February 8, 2007 just changed the xls to use the ratio percentage changes more inline with how peter displays them, much better to compare agaunst than the previous logic in the XLS
Guest JasonS Posted February 8, 2007 Nice chart there, alot of useful information. Does anyone know the ratios and final drive of the Xantia 1.8i BE gearbox?
smckeown 1 Posted February 8, 2007 (edited) I have a sheet in Excel.I will mail it to you! grtz, Raymond cheers raymond, great source of info that. I have loaded it onto my website and added it to my sig. So anyone know the ratios for all the boxes in this spreadsheet ? http://www.track-monkey.co.uk/downloads/techgear.xls Edited February 8, 2007 by smckeown
TB_205GTI 1 Posted February 8, 2007 Just a little note - the gearbox ratios are useless when not matched up against the gearbox codes E.g: a 206 Hdi with the DW10TD engine has 20 (yes 20!) different gearbox codes and not all have the same gearings.. If you'd like I have all the gearings for Peugeots from 106 to Partner

Anthony 1,003 Posted February 8, 2007 You've made a typo in the above Raymond - the ratio for 2nd is missing (or atleast 1.36 is the usual 3rd), and you've got two 5th's by the looks of things (0.8 and 0.76).
Guest Ray205S16 Posted February 8, 2007 (edited) You've made a typo in the above Raymond - the ratio for 2nd is missing (or atleast 1.36 is the usual 3rd), and you've got two 5th's by the looks of things (0.8 and 0.76). I've got this info from my PSA book and thats what it says The 1.8i gearbox is almost the same as the 2.0i, only the 2.0i has 4.060 as final drive, gears 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5th are the same! If you look at the 2.0 16v VSX; the 1st is 3.455 the 2nd is 1.870 the 3rd is 1.360 and the 4th is 1.070 the 5th is 0.800 and the final drive is 4.270! Here is another one: Xantia 1.6i: 1: 3.450 2: 1.870 3: 1.280 4: 0.970 5: 0.790 A: 3.333 E: 4.190 (Final drive) Edited February 8, 2007 by Ray205S16
