RAF_gti 0 Posted February 6, 2007 Argh! After 4 days of happy ownership I have encountered my first problem! Leaving the car running for about five mins last night (after an hours driving) I got back in and noticed the stop light was on and the water temp guage was around at full. I was only 200m from home I drove on and as soon as I did the temp dropped to normal. On having a quick nose in the bay there was no obvious signs of overheating. My initial thoughts are faulty fan/fan switch as the fan definately didn't come on. Faulty rad? It has certainly seen better days and the previous owner commented how he would of looked to replace it if he was keeping car. Any other thoughts or suggestions? Please bear in mind I am reasonably mechanically minded but very very rusty with my hands! Steve
sonofsam 5 Posted February 6, 2007 Been here before lol If the fans didnt kick in, then its either as you said, faulty fan or switch. Here's how to test the fan http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?s...;hl=testing+fan
inferno 1 Posted February 6, 2007 if the temp dropped as u drove on, and it doesnt creep up too high when driving at 70mph its defo not the rad. mine tended to get warm at around 50 mph and didnt cool in the fast airflow.
