kyunis 0 Posted February 4, 2007 What is the torque setting if i want to fit piper 270 cams instead of the original cams on the 2.0 s16 engine. The cams are fitted to my s16 engine, but the bottom end has gone, so now i want to remove the cams and fit to another s16 engine. What i want to know is, if im running the engine with weber 45's is it better to have the piper 270 cams or will the original be just as good? what will be the main differences? Miles this is from the engine conversion you did for Monkey, I bought it from him in August 2006. Thanks
welshpug 1,666 Posted February 4, 2007 swap the heads?
kyunis 0 Posted February 4, 2007 If the heads are swapped would it need skimming? How can i tell by looking which head is better to use? Thanks
welshpug 1,666 Posted February 4, 2007 nah, all you need is a gasket, bolts and timing belt, which should eb done anyway if you dont know the history of the new engine, or its been used as a track engine.
kyunis 0 Posted February 4, 2007 Well since you got me thinking of swapping heads instead , whats the torque setting on the head bolts if i do go down this route? (apols, don't have a manual, i know i need one)! Thanks
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted February 5, 2007 Just swap the head's but I would expect the head would need a skim as it was never taken off (Cost), The pipers are just regrind's so they don;t offer huge performace gain's but worth looking at there site for the techy information. But the torque setting is the same for any cam fitting so what ever the book say's, not allot but I can;t recall at the moment, It's a good idea to get some good quality bolt's for the cap's thou as the std one's are a bit soft. kyunis 0 Posted February 5, 2007 (edited) Thanks. What if i were to run it with the standard cams and webbers? For the time being ill only be using it for road. Also Miles, Monkey gave me some gti-6 calipers, which are now fitted, but will need some 500mm hoses, do you have any available. Thanks Edited February 5, 2007 by kyunis
Anthony 1,003 Posted February 5, 2007 If you've got the regrinds you might as well fit them rather than standard cams
