Looking For Some Advice On What I Need

Recommended Posts

I've been running the 1.9 for a few years now with no problems at all, but feel that its time to try to get a bit more power. I am on a bit of a budget so want to stick with the original ecu, inlet manifold exhaust.

I'm thinking about using the 2 litre iron block but use my 1.9 head as its only recently been rebuilt. Can i do this?

Is there a way of increasing the cc using stock parts?

Is it a case of simply taking the engine out and fitting the new block using all the same wiring as before?

As i hav e read on here its compression that is key to gaining power with the Mi's so what is the best way to do this? Skim the block or would i need new pistons.

sorry for all the questions but i need to start somewere.

What im doing with my engine is using the 2.0 block, pistons and rods, with the 1.9 mi crank and the 1.9 head, making it a 2045cc and around 11:1 compression, then getting some cams and light headwork and fitting my twin 45's. Just need to use an extra spacer on one of the head bolts afaik but still on the collecting parts stage so havent got round to building it yet.

have you done a search?

i'm planning on doing something similer soon. head will go straight on o think.

you can use a longer crank, from a diesel.

my theory goes that all the origional injection will ok but it's unproven to me.

to change compression, it's more likely to be too high, i think, you could machine out combustion chambers or pistons or start with a lower compression piston or thicker head gasket. to increase you could skim the head, not sure how much you could do to the block.

hope thats of some help.
