[trackday_prep] My 205 GTI-6 Supercharged Track Car

Recommended Posts

Batfink

rear camera looks a bit poo position but front looks excellent.

On the civic touring car they cut a round hole in the middle of the window and silicon seal the camera there...

I'd make a small bracket and cut a hole in the boot for it to peep out of.

yeah the rear isnt as good as i want, but i dont really want to cut a hole in the rear screen or FB hatch,

the other option is to mount the camera on suckers (i have these) on the roof rear facing ;)

maybe i'll try that next

well, we had a great day, loads of nice fast cars, and our pugs

126miles on track too

did all morning on r888's which seem to hold on very well, few oversteer instances, but

nothing to worry about

then lunch it hammered down, and i decided to put on my competition wets,

this transfromed the car and it had LOADS of grip and i loved it, passed everything

here are my video's from the weekend (last 3 sessions is where i was flying)

Was actually meant to be coming to the MLR day but friend told me he couldn't make it anymore so I slept in instead oops! Looks great although personally think the rear camera needs to be moved up to the top of the video and the sound is very quiet!

Edit - just seen some of the other videos and see you were messing around with the settings, guess its trial and error to get the thing right!

this was always going to be a trial and error day with the camera kit,

the later vids only run the front and the mic is turned up a little

yeah car is going great

i've cracked the ex manifold again :P, so that will have to be replaced.

that was my last track day

for 2009 :o

so i've now got to decide if i take the engine from the 306 and replace it with a std, or

get an engine for it, fit cams (making sure the head thickness is ok) and run like that

ideally i need rods and pocketed pistons, but thats another 1k :P

Indeed! Do you think it's engine movement buggering the manifolds?

the first time round it was yeah, i dropped it into 3rd at combe last year and it was very high up the revs and i heard it go, we welded it, but it's gone again.

that was pre bulkhead mod,

but, as you say, it could have gone again due to engine movement

Do you have a LSD spikey? I presume not???

I am wondering what ours is going to be like if Abingdon is going to be wet at the end of the month. It is currently set onto it's most harsh setting...:P

well yet again, more weight loss,

had the whole dash out for the first time, oops, some sound deadening still in there, no gone, except behind the heater as i could obviously see how to take it out, so left the bit behind there

tidy all the wires up behind the clocks

which then left me with some long wires by the fuse box

so next job is to shorten each indiviual wire, and as you can see, thats not a 5 minute job,

ah well

the heater's only held in with three bolts, it's the easiest bit of the dash to take out!

you ditching the rear view? i'd have thought that would be essential on a track day tool

ah seen the 3 nuts, did take them off, so i assume the matrix pipes were holding it in place, only wanted to move it a little to get the sound deadening out

ditch the rear mirror? god no..lol

good spotting though

i took it off as i didnt want to damage it or the screen as i banged it once and didnt want to take an chances

yeah it takes a bit of wrestling to get it out if the pipes are still there, but you can get it out with them in place (and not connected obv!)
