[trackday_prep] My 205 GTI-6 Supercharged Track Car

Recommended Posts

Spiky

something like that,

when running closed loop the ecu uses the lambda to have the AFR fun at 14:1 which is lambda, which makes for a veru fuel effiencent car,

when the on full throttle it wont run closed loop, only part throttle

hope that helps

p.s. its basically having the car run the best it can using as little fuel as possible

ahh, thats for that, enjoy learning new things .. Guess the reason i havnt really heard of closed loop in relation to ecu's etc is that my r5 is very basic and far from fuel efficiant in anyway :) .. fun stuff.

i just visited my local factors and asked for a 205 throttle cable and it was *adjustable*

Probably means it has one of those little brass bits on the end with a tiny allen key screw, thread cable through it, tighten up, cut end of cable off. What this in reality means half the time is that the remaining cable pulls through leaving you with no throttle or its impossible to get the end cut cleanly leading to a little bit sticking out which fowls where its held in place leading to dodgy movement

Adjustable in that (I’m guessing now) it’s a universal kit and you cut them to length when you fit them. They’re not great quality wise (well the one I got for my 205 Mi on std plenum wasn’t). When I fitted the pedal end connector it was a cold day and the barbs broke off both sides. Genuine ones are much better IMO

This is the same as the one I got http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Accelerator-Cable-KI...%3A1%7C294%3A50

well been a fun few days...lol

ECU turned up friday, realising that i didnt have a serial lead

so a quick search on google, and found how to make a lead that convert a 15pin to 9 pin serial

£3 spent at maplins, few wires soldered on , job done

then was told a zetec or XE map might make it run, the XE almost did, but didnt :P

then Sandy, came to my rescue and supplied a base map, installed onto the ECU and fired the car, and it FOOKING STARTED, happy as a pig in s*it

just took a small vid, my brother got a little carried away with the throttle...lol

sounds awesome though ;)

small vid

well after mondays trip checking the fuel, and doing 130 "cough" kmph

the bonnet bent like a banana and i was worried it was going to rip off, i decided something was needed

so got some angle aluminum and fibre glass and here is the end result

will trim off the edges and give a quick spray and hope it holds for the weekend :(

well be booked in soon :( and then whenever a free date is given :(

the base map has be checked and altered a little so i can do the track day this weekend, so it's safe for now and runs a healthy 14.0 - 14.7 on cruise from 55-75 so the drive there should be fairly good econmy wise B) and runs low 12's late 11's WOT :D

sorted the aerocatchs on the bonnet now, so will take bits to be painted tomorrow :o

Do you realise you've fitted these the opposite way round to what Aerocatch recommend? They advise having the narrow end towards the front of the car and either into or at a slight angle to the airflow.

i know they are the wrong wayu, and infact you have the wrong way too :o

they "should" be sideways :)

I just copied what it said on their website. I'm fitting a pair to my other car next week and was doing a little research on fitting them.

Didn't mean to sound arsey if it came across that way, wasn't my intention.

well, pretty much ready now i think?

new front discs fitted

new 24mm read anti roll bar fitted

new Bright LED shift light

more reinforcement on the bonnet, so hopefully it will stay in shape now at high speeds

They say you should have them narrow end forward (or sideways) because if the first stage latch pops open at speed then the air pressure will just flick the latch open and your bonnet will go bye-bye.

Not that that's ever really likely to happen, they're just covering their arses.
