like that a lot, but you need to get access to the other side of the hole, right? So doubleskinned areas would be impossible to swag?

So the C-pillars would be hard to get to, right?

Where did you weigh your car spiky cause I work in a weighbridge and mine weighs 880 with a full tank of fuel. Mines all stripped with original glass in plus sunroof and a full set of polyglass in the boot along with my old koni adjustables which I've just replaced thanks to you. I would have though yours would be much lighter. You sure the weigher was calibrated?

I'll tell you more on 22nd feb after I do cadwell park. Part of me says should I put it on the road so I can do a bit more testing and development. I'm having to wait for trackdays. What grease do you use for the bushes in the coilovers? I used some extreme pressure high temp stuff we use for the bearings in our stone crushers. I'll post the spec up later.

What do you pay to insure that? weve just done the renewal on ours on a limited milage policy for £275, thats all mods and track cover which I thought was quite good.

Its through HIC and insured with Highway insurance, it was on a classic policy until this year with someone else but hic found a better deal this year apparantly.

mine's insured as a road rally car with David Auden for About £200 TPO but includes all event cover. I used competition car insurance previously and they were similar on price too. 1000 non event road miles, I'm 36 with full NCB

I've been told that if you get it logbooked the insurers don't see it as a "modified" car any more, but a competition vehicle.

from what I remember of your car, all you'd need is a plumbed in extinguisher and make sure the seats and belts are in date.

had it weighed again today, after i found out (from taking the baby for a walk) that there are TWO weighbridges, about 200yrds from my house... DOH

it was again 860KG, so it's diet time, and over the next few days i shall be loosing some weight ;)

been having a little play with my new metal punch and swagger :P

860kg how much heavier is the GTI6 engine over a 1.9 8v? Really want to have mine weighed but cant exactly drive it to a weigh bridge :P

i dont know

i know it's 25kg heavier, but cant remember if thats 25 over the mi16 or std 1.9

25kg thats a fair chunk, Which speedlines are you using smr/italians?

Im currently thinking about the c5 wheels for some more weight saving.

i'm looking at team dynamics 1.2 as i think they give a better clearance and are 5kg ;) or is it 6? cant rememeber now..lol

the stupid thing is i have 4 speedline's italy with my WETS and SMR's with my r888

i so need to swap them over

theymight even have enough clearance for brembo's :P

Good wheels, my brother has them on the clio cup paid £600 with r888's about two weeks ago. They are 6.4kg the pro race 1.2s.

Decisions decisions

thats not a bad price, 15?

I dont want to buy new, as there is no point

Yep 15" with r888's fully fitted, balanced and ready to go £600. Even came with a fitting kit as the 17" turinis have a different fitting kit.

Oz are meant to do some very light wheels too around 4kg for 15".

are they? do you know the name?

just to let you no ive read this from start 2 finish tonight[well there was nowt on telly] and am very inpresed given me lots of ideas, sorry you have some negative comments "from experts" but im sure that theres more people like me who only have limited skills who have learnt from this.i thought a forum was all about shareing ideas and experinces but some people seam to have other thoughts about this .so well done

1.4kg lighter a wheel than the pro race 1.2s so be 5.6kg lighter overall. They are nearly double the price though i could see if i can get them cheaper will get a quote on some.

thanks for the kinds comments

i have made mistakes, but its all part of the learning curve ;)

did you ever run the car on standard calipers with decent track pads. This would save weight due to the smaller disks and as pad area and disk size are unrelated to stopping distance you should be ok :D

no my brakes were a bit rubbish. So instead of getting new calipers i got gti6.

I will probably get some 4 pots any how :P

As your car is so light now why not use the AP 2 pots from a Lotus elise/exige? They are really really light and should offer as good as if not better stopping power than the gti6 single piston calipers. If you can remember there was a 205 with them fitted at Donington.

Interested in more information on these elise brakes.....

i did a track day last nov at donny, and powers was there too, and we spotted a 205 got chatting and he had elise front calipers fitted, he said they were great only issue was he was boiling the fluid.

and power has a set so just need brackets and pads and then i can test :P

I looked at this option previosuly. GTi6 brakes are heavy and it's all unsprung too. Personally I'm not too heavy on brakes and 1900 ones with decent pads are fine for me and were used on the car previously to do Isle of Mull rally which is heavy on brakes

cool

as powers says, my cars is getting lighter and lighter, and i used to own a elise and i put that on track and it stopped fooking amazingly so it's definetly and double option

just need to design some brackets ;)

Spiky what discs do you use with the elise set up and what will i need to fit to a 205? Different lines too?

What does an elise caliper weigh?

Sorry about the million questions but sounds like a logical setup to run on a lightened 205

i dont remember what discs; but i expect std 205 1.9 discs, and for fitment, thats not a problem for me as i have braided lines, so would just need to change the end, i will log on my lotus site later and ask some questions :D
