That looks a bit close to the cam cover? Even with hard mounts it must still move an inch or so under serious acceleration or braking?

it's probably closer than i thought it would be, but it's not an issue as pedal box (mk2) can be made to sit further in.

the top drivers side engine mount has no movement as sit's and only movement it can do is to crush the rubber, i know this does happen, but i dont think it's enough to touch the mc.

though the first drive will confirm this :)

all in hand

Youre putting the heavy ecu in the engine bay after saying I should move my battery?!! :)

Oh I wish I had a garage at my house. My rented unpowered one is over 9 miles away now ive moved and I just cba to go up there especially as I cant even get in it now as its so full and the cars on stands so cant move it out :(

Be wary about those master cylinder clearances. Ive had over an inch of movement out of my '6 lump with BBM mounts, even with the top mount pressed against the rear rubber...

nooks naff with the bonnet not fitted properly

why do you want to run it so low? set the back to match the height at the front and it'll be on the bumpstops!

Now now children. Ok valid points made by both parties so lets agree to disagree. I had my ecu under the bonnet on my turbo and ran it for over a year in all weather conditions with no problems, although it was bolted to the battery tray and not as near the expansion bottle as yours. I'd just be sure the overflow pipe is routed properly and not near the ecu, i'd say it should be ok

Bonnet looks naff like that, have you come up with a fix yet? I assume my bonnet is going to be the same

Whats stopping it from sitting flush then. The top mount itself or the strut top nut?

no exp pipe off this bottle...

no bonnet WILL sit as std as i will be putting some bulges in the botten

you wont have an issue, as your top mounts will be mounted underneath

But i am also going to be using eccentric top mounts? My FG bonnet has no reinforcing, i might be ok

Also, where are you'r washer jets going? Are you rigging them upto wipers or onto the scuttle panel, as when you remove the bonnet you wont want to be disconnecting the washers everytime

your eccentric mounts will be mounted underneath the strut top, where as mine are on top

you will be fine

washers.... ummmm not decided yet.,....lol

you shouldn't need to cut holes in the bonnet skin itself, i just had to trim some of the support from the underside out to get it to shut normally.

just been out and looked, the strut nut is touching the bonnet,

it is a touch lower as one of the top mount bolt heads was touching the support, but there is sill a lip above the wing

can i see a picture of yur setup?

and yours batfink

I will be the one pissing myself laughing when you accidently spill some coolant when filling the expansion tank up. Actually, come to think of it, you as a single member has made me laugh several times in the things youve done on here. Ignore what I say in opposition to your ideas, carry on regardless, it makes for comical watching for myself and many others!

Maxi

Maxi you really sound like where your head is theres no room for two :lol:I'm sure any coolant could be dried off anyway as he wont have the car running when pouring anyway so it wont go pop. 1/2 hour in the airing cupboard would sort it.

its not hard to fill an expansion tank without spilling a drop using a funnel is it either. Yes its not ideal but it really isnt that important as time has already proved.

Spiky looking at your pictures I notice you have re-enforced top mounts, which the rallye did not have. I would suggest everything is that slight bit higher. My new setup will have the same issue, so trim the inner skin ;) Looks like i might have the same issue when I fit a bonnet too..

i have a FG bonnet so i'm guessing it's probably a different shape to the STD,

i will trim some of the reinforce secotion underneath and go from there and it may have a slink bend in the bonnet, but not sure yet
