Why have you half blanked out the number plate in one photo but not the other lol! Fly removal is a pain, stupid selfish things leave a right mess! Your car will be considerably lighter now you have got them off though :D

I think its very much a case of function rather than aesthetics.

If it gains him 1bhp then its a cheap modification.

<_< i think somebody has just realized what your trying to do

theres a world of difference between building a serious track car and and something to pose in with your mates at McDonald's car park on a Saturday night

function over form every time for me

Alright Spiky,

Any chance you could give me a few pointers on how you plumbed up the coolant, I've just searched through 30 odd pages of your thread and my eyes are becoming square!

Nice build BTW :)

thanks matey :D

below is a picture of my setup, EXCEPT the oil cooler part, as i have a mocal cooler

back of the engine black pipe to the bottom matrix pipe, top matrix to silver pip off thermostat and also "T"'s off to the bottom of the expansion tank, blank of the of the expansion top pipes off :)

other "god" people on here might not agree with my setup, but after 2years and god knows how many track days, i havent had a single issue :D

With the pipe coming off the block on the side to the rad.

Did you use a different water block?

Mine's only got 1 outlet to the metal pipe.

Its the circled bit, minus the oil cooler.

Is it a standard 'water intake block' off a GTI6? (thats what the dealers call it lol)

all standard dude,

outlet from the bottom of the rad has a 90 degree on, then fits on to the std metal pipe then another 90 onto the back of the engine to the standard pipe

all pretty much standard on my engine apart from the thermostat housing is the metal type from the group buy on here :)

Sorry mate, blonde moment there. Just realised where everything goes. Cheers for the diagram :)

I've been on nights for the last 2 weeks and it f@cks you up a treat!

I've got a thermo adapter on the way from Miles soonish (as he's out of stock :D). All my other bits should be here tomorow to get her started at the weekend :(

I'm going to be running round like a headless chicken when it starts lol It's been a long time in the making.

I may have sold you another loom to my mate. I'll let you know nearer the weekend.

Sorry to be a pain in the arse and keep bothering you, but what did you 'tee off' with?

A bit of copper tubing and a tee? (I'm in my element here lol)

yeah, i had a plumber working in the house so got a 15 t section and he put about an inch of copper pipe on each end, enough to clamp the pipes on :P

So 15mm all round?

I thought 22mm might let the pipe clamp a bit tighter onto it.

It's annoying because I don't have the car here with me at the moment :P

Edit: I should of mentioned its the piece of piece that comes out the bottom of the coolant tank

I've got a hunch that the coolant tank pipework is 22mm and the heater matrix is 15mm....

......... 15mm

22mm _I_ 22mm

Well, long day today,

me and paul set off around 7am to drive to Sandy's in cornwall for it's mappin session

only to find on route the new wheels that i had fitted last week, made the car shake at 80+ :(

lucky enough there was a tyre place in cornwall right where we were going and they sorted the for me

the had some food and a cuppa, the sandy turned up and as the Rolling road was in use we took a drive to Colin's

had a good chat with him, and worked planned already..lol

first job he will be doing for me is make my front suspension bodie's shorted  so i can run the car lower (without bottoming out)

afte the great chat's we popped back to the RR and sandy started to do his magic

after a little bit i started to see smoke coming from behind the engine, no signs of oil or fluids?

then after a few more (load) runs sandy hands paul my big gromit, from where the loom entered the body

the extreme heat from being under load melted it  AND has started to melt the seam sealler from my bulkhead mod

all from the lack of air flow i think, as i have never had an issue before

that was all that had a fault, which i was really pleased with

so a after sandy finished he came back with my ATW figure of 166  and a est of 190-195 ATF

consifering i never fitted any cams i was very happy with that

roll on Combe 4th of July

thanks again sandy, really appreciate you answering all my questions..lol and a great job you did on the car
