Good idea Spiky, something else for me to copy! keep it up ;)

My relays and power box are currently near the header tank, which means they get wet from time to time <_<

No joke! it all helps heh. Visa is quite different in that area to its half sister. Brake servo is on the passenger side with a pedal bar so no clearance issues with the master cylinder and cylinder head. The header tank itself is on the drivers side and the washer bottle is up by the bulkhead on the passenger side

why dont you move the battery, that would give you room for the air filter then <_<

My mates header tank split slightly when we were on a trackday recently, it aimed a jet of coolant straight at the horn relay and the first we knew of the problem was the horn blaring under braking and during right handers ;)

There is room for the filter and its back in the "normal" place since that photo however I may move it back. Thats a big air box at the front of the screen on the Visa which feeds the side vents inside, only middle ones come off the blower. You get a ridiculous amount of air through them when driving, plus its cool, no heat soak etc. Bottom of the screen/top of the bonnet is a big high pressure area hence why it gets so much air in and hence why I crack up when I see people lifting the rears of their bonnets as no hot air will escape because of the high pressure above and low pressure under! I plan on moving the battery but not had time or money to do it yet, other things more important <_<

I always thought if the air was moving over the top surface of the bonnet faster than the bottom of the bonnet it will cause a negative pressure on the top surface and a possitive pressure on the under side of the bonnet, effectively lift. Or another way to look at it is the air passing over the rear of the bonnet draws the air from under the bonnet. In effect sucking it out or pushing it out depending on perspective.

The air does move quickly over the bonnet giving lift but then it hits the windscreen slowing it down massively giving downforce from the base of the screen up until it speeds up once on the roof so it makes it tricky for the air to release up from under the back of the raised bonnet due to the pressure area at the base of the screen. Im sure some gets outs and the more going into the bonnet from front end venting, means more to come out so it will find a way. Getting a bit OT but I read a article somewhere where they got a car and fitted a flat tray from the front bumper under the engine and it did make a difference to the cars performance and fuel use due to the better air flow underneath, ie things like the Clio 197 etc having rear diffusers now to get the air out quicker, look at an old 911, almost totally flat floor, my visa however is a joke, bits hanging everywhere heh

the guys in the RS scene have the bonnets raised, with great results, and see their ACT's lower, due to less heat soke <_<
