spiky can I ask what rate and free length springs you use?

I currenlty have 180mm 60N/mm but cant get the thing low enough to run helper springs (my helpers are ~12mm compressed plus another 3-5mm for the locating cup). So atm I run without and they dislocate in droop. Not good for curb bashing!

Was thinking about going to 160mm free length but am worried about compressed length.

Cheers.

cheers. Mine are roughly 7" 350lbs. Needs some major 'adjustment' to the wheel arches tbh. Runs relatively high from what ive seen on other cars and I have an issue with the tyre hitting the spot welded flange in the centre of the arch if I run it lower. Might get away with 160mm if running 350lbs though! Cheers for info anyway. Cars looking good btw :) always nice to give them a spruce-up.

How come you hitting anything? Mine runs fairly low and don't touch anything

Mines fairly flat though and is on Tarmac

Not a forest car

Mine are 160mm FL 350lbs with helper springs.

I tried some 400lb 175mm springs yesterday but they were way too long for a tarmac ride height.

I was looking to get a set of 350lb springs, probably stay at 7"

What's your reasons for 6" spring? Any benifit over 7"?

160mm = 6.3", I could never get the car low enough with 7" springs.

Yeah, sorry rounded down in size , that's odd if you look up I have plenty of room to drop mine and its low as it is

That's using PTS bodies and compbrake top and bottom collars and they are not very deep at all, which helps

What about locking rings hitting the tyre?

Nope not an issue

I have 2 1/4 springs

I've had std wheels c5 steelies, and now 3 sets Of wheels and no rubbage

Current wheels are et15 so this helps

But as I said even std wheels and C5 were fine

Here's me trying to bury the car recently with 350lb springs, thus I started looking at 400lb.

nice shot of the car there pete :)

Id say I have an inch gap to the arch just for visualisation. Its mainly curb strikes that do it. I saw a line down the centre of the tyre. Also have issues with rubbing the outer arch. Plastic trim is all but worn away and the metal has witness marks. Have cut back the metal arch right up to the fixing holes for the arch trim to try and help.

I have had the front hubs machined for camber so I have issues with the tyre rubbing the strut body let alone the spring seats/locking rings. I use silverstone FTZ RR which although are 195/50/15 are atleast 205 across the tread. Quite a bit wider than an R888 for example.

looking good :)

I suppose each induvidual setup comes with its own problems.

I see pete is using 160mm 350lbs though so I will give those a go to get the ride height down, and then go at the arch with some specialist tools. (hammer, grinder)..

Cheers.

It's a very tight corner. Shocks are custom Bilstein. Not sure of the numbers now but had them done with the springs. ARB is std.

I've ground all the plastic of the trim away and rolled the guards out 1/2" or so.

Another shot, same corner.

Henry - have you had a look through the Eibach catalogue? It has all the free lengths & spring travels listed, very handy. :)

yeh, and in e-mail contact with the UK office. They don't stock 160mm apparently and 170 is no good as the helper spring and locating cup is ~ 14mm so would be raising the ride height!

I had my springs made by a local spring maker.
