djinuk 2 Posted January 31, 2007 ok , i have a 1.4 xs... passed mot last week , but seems to be overfueling (smells of fuel) struggles to start, and runs sloppy until temp is at medium (fair enuf its a F reg). but when turning corners in particular it seems to have problems pulling off like the mixture is way off... since ive had the car (6 months off the road) i havnt services anything on it etc.. but can you lead the me the correct way, cheers
bren_1.3 1 Posted February 1, 2007 XS's have been known to suffer from fuel surge, like you mention pulling out of corners. the carb does sound a bit worse for wear. So get it taken apart and replace the gasket between carb and manifold and just generally clean the bugger up. becoming ever more common thats these solex carbs require rebuilding. richard 0 Posted February 1, 2007 a full service would be a good start. leads, plugs, rotor arm, cap, oil, and clean your carb. if you've got a dodgy spark plug lead it could be shorting out when youre turning left!
