jim205GTI 3 Posted January 31, 2007 On making a better connection for the solenoid feed, ie crimping new ring connector on, i managed to lose the nut which tightens on the solemnoid and so now can't make a good connection ..... Was wondering if anyone knew the size of the thread so i can get a new nut for it
Ryan 99 Posted January 31, 2007 It's just a standard M8 (8x1.25), one of the few bolts on a pug that's a normal size!
jim205GTI 3 Posted January 31, 2007 cool but we are on about the same connection here, i know my wording isn't very good.... the connection i am on about comes from the engine loom and on to the starter rather then the battery - starter - alternator big thick wire just want to double check
Ryan 99 Posted January 31, 2007 Oops, got my wires crossed there. My starter has a spade connector for the connection to the loom.
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted January 31, 2007 Jim, the good news is that afaik it can be either M4 or M6. I have two starters that need the ring terminal & a nut to hold them on, both are different sizes. The one I haven't fitted yet is definately M6 but the one I fitted yesterday was smaller & I think it was M4. Graham.
