Rupertfinch 6 Posted January 30, 2007 Had the old girl up on a hydraulic ramp last week (1991 1.6) while replacing rear shocks. Anyway, while running around underneath her doing the old 'WD40 it to within an inch of it life' routine, I noticed that the flywheel was winking at me, leading me to conclude that I was missing a flywheel cover - there appears to be fixing holes for such a thing. 1. Should I have one in the first place? 2. Could I ballax everything if I don't get one quick? 3. Anyone got one for sale? 4. Exactly where is Lord Lucan? pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted January 31, 2007 I don't run one mine without any issues, there isn't a very big gap for it to let anything in & it also allows any oil or water that gets inside to drain away faster / easier. When I had the alloy sump fitted I couldn't get it back in so I left it off since, even though I have now swapped back to a tin sump. taylorspug 7 Posted February 1, 2007 All ive found those guard things to do is trap oil from weeping crank seals etc (as Graham has mentioned), which then ends up getting spat everywhere by the flywheel and contaminating the clutch.
