Mike Walker 0 Posted January 30, 2007 I just need to settle my mind on this. I bought an ignition module from ECP which was specified for my car as a seven pin module. The seventh pin has a blue dot painted above this, I'm hoping this signifies that the seventh pin is not in use. The module I removed from my car is a six pin but is exactly the same shape etc. as the new one. The new one has been plugged in and didn't eliminate the problem so I just want to check that this is definately the right one to be using before continuing in my quest to get the car working again. So, just need to know if other people have removed six pin modules and replaced with one with seven pins and its been fine? Cheers Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Thats kind of the problem, it fits but it has one more pin than the one I removed and the car still doesn't start, cranks fine but no sign of it starting although there's no reason it couldn't be something else. I am utterly s*ite when it comes to electronics, bought a multimeter but havn't got the faintest what all those squirly symbols on it are or where you should shove those probes!! Anyway, i've got an electronics engineer mate coming round on the weekend to give me an electronics 101 and hopefully fully identify the problem, thought there might be a definate answer either way is all as i'm gonna look a right tool if he comes round and realises i've gone a plugged the wrong bit in!!
