just seems slugish, not exactly willing, but on the motorway above 70 ish mph its great pulls fantastic and is a happy little 205gti again... so why isnt it like this whilst at normal road speeds????

and apart from the noise and being unpopular with police why should i get the exughst sorted...just have to wait to be paid....totaly skint

whats it like in first and second for acceleration? it could just be the car appears to be slower thank you expect. don't they come 'on cam' or something around 3k, or is it just the exhaust note that changes.

I'd say ignition timing and/or an air leak, although an air leak is generally a pretty gross problem and yours sounds more like tuning.

Vac advance unit could introduce a small air leak if bust but should have no effect on full throttle response.

Are you running decent fuel or boggo 95RON unleaded? It will be retarded if using 95 and not pinking, which will make it feel a bit "flat".
