Having bought my 1.6 a few weeks ago and being not the most knowledgable person about car mechanics I am slowly getting to understand it.

Was never quite sure what was under the bonnet and what had been done to the car. It seems to have been looked after with minor improvements including Samsco hoses, whether further unseen modifications have taken place I've no idea.

One of the things that was fairly obvious even to me was that a little "air filter" seemed to have been fitted. Well today whilst looking for something completely different ( a carpet actually) I came across this site and this little gizmo is what is fitted to my car.

What are the forum views of this. I notice they state fuel consumption improves, as I'm used to a STDT my Gti must have been pretty bad as the consumption is not exactly great now.

Do people think this works? All the reviews seem to indicate people are fairly pleased with it though I accept no company would put negative views on their own site.

Does anyone else have this on their car?

I cannot see any advantage of this at all. They've been around years and I've never seen any evidence they work, mainly I think because the reasoning behind them is flawed.

It was most likely fitted to cover up running problems on your car. Best to ditch it and make sure it is set up properly

I ran one for a bit, didn't notice any difference really, maybe a placebo effect, but did fail an MOT as it was messing with servo assistance

I think I've answered my own question by doing a search, which I should have done first. The general opinion on the forum appears to be fairly negative.

Okay can I just remove this then connect the two pipes up or replace what will be the split pipe?
