migti 0 Posted January 23, 2007 Hi all was taking apart a spare mi16 engine one of the head bolts was missing! part of the bolt has been left in the block and 3 of the head bolts were loose, the threads on the block are damaged and to add to this the 2 of fire rings on the head gasket are burst from cylinder to cylinder! hmmm had a hard life me thinks! Anyway just to ask it the block can be helicoil'd or would i be better finding another? Thanks

welshpug 1,666 Posted January 23, 2007 all you need is a block so it doesnt have to be and Mi16 one.
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted January 24, 2007 Joy's of the Alloy block I;m afraid as allot are like this now due to being standing for years and the Ally and steel mix not liking each other, I'd source another block but I would want to see it in person before buying it unless it's a trusted forum member
petert 601 Posted January 24, 2007 I've helicoiled head bolt and mains bolt holes quite successfully. Good Mi16 blocks are hard to find, in Australia anyway. It will have to be an Mi16 block, they're not interchangeable with 8V blocks.
