boombang 2 Posted January 26, 2007 You have the option of either losing the power steering or fitting an electric PAS pump, such a 106 Gti. Check the main site as suggested for the articles...
Guest Andyo_123 Posted January 28, 2007 would i be able to buy the bracket that fits the ones without powersteering and fit the carbs right on. Cheers Andy
j_turnell 136 3 Cars Posted January 28, 2007 You can just modify the bracket to retain the power steering.
Guest Andyo_123 Posted January 30, 2007 (edited) if i was to loose the powersteering would i have to buy another steering rack? Thanks Andy Edited January 30, 2007 by Andyo_123
Ryan 99 Posted January 30, 2007 No you can keep the steering rack, just remove the pump and all the pipework for it. You should also remove the hydraulic ram from the rack itself as otherwise it's technically an MOT failure, but it depends on the person doing the testing whether or not they pick up on it.
