Hi ive just bought twin 40s for my 1.9 8v but i have powersteering, does anybody have a guide to fitting them, or can you buy a bracket for the alternator and p/s pump.

You have the option of either losing the power steering or fitting an electric PAS pump, such a 106 Gti.

would i be able to buy the bracket that fits the ones without powersteering and fit the carbs right on.

You can just modify the bracket to retain the power steering.

No you can keep the steering rack, just remove the pump and all the pipework for it.

 

You should also remove the hydraulic ram from the rack itself as otherwise it's technically an MOT failure, but it depends on the person doing the testing whether or not they pick up on it.
