Why Are The Most Simple Things Expensive

ok im going out to buy a new windscreen washer pump cos for some reason mine isnt working anymore and what do i find?????????? £10 from gsf £15 from halford and pug dealer hasnt 1 in stock and will take about 3 days to get it in at £9.50

 

now come on my car is now coming up to being 17 yrs old why are things like this so exspensive?????? i bet it costs about a quid to make.

 

so now im gonna look at a scrappy and take a 12volt set up so i can test them.

 

am i being unreasonable to think like this??

surly a case of stock is not the reason!!!! is it????

and maybe a decline of demand yes but only on avalibility and not cost.

 

an i being tight in my out look on cost??? maybe i am

Car parts have been getting more expensive in recent years. Maybe it's because fewer people these days fix their own cars, so they have to put the prices up to justify keeping parts in stock, or even running a parts dept at all...

 

If you think £10 for a washer pump is bad you should see the prices some of the jap manufacturers charge for things. FTO driveshafts are £900 each for example! :D

Paid £12 for a washer pump for the 405. Now I don't feel so bad after reading this thread..
