Homemade Expansion Tank (for Cooling Water)

Recommended Posts

boeseturbo

Hi friends,

I want to build a stainless-steel expansion tank for my cooling-water-system, because I haven't got much space under the bonnet.

Did anybody know a manufacturer who builds stainless-steel-caps and a nipple to weld it on?

I found some, but they are all alloy-ones

Thanks

Jan

Why stainless and not alu?

I know some nice (small) alu ones for the 205. AB Motorsport does them.

Hi Hilgie, I want to weld the tank myself, and I only have a DC-TIG welder, so I can't weld alloy.

I only need the nipple and the cap. The rest I want to do myself.

Cheers

Jan

I would search for a company that makes stainlesssteel installations (tubing etc) for the food industry. I am sure those companies have caps and flanges for you. I know of some companies in Holland, but none in Germany.

Maybe this company can help? http://www.wopereis.nl/steel-construction/...ing-systems.php

They are located in Doetinchem just accross the border from Germany.

Hi Jan,

What kind of cap design you after, something like this http://www.vici.com/vfit/caps.php

Do you have a design and guage of metal in mind. I may be able to get something made for you or have a look round the stock room to see what we have, cant promise anything though. Im a metal spinner btw.

or maybe you could utilise something from here http://www.abacus-furniture.co.uk/4-5.php
