Sie 0 Posted January 16, 2007 1.9 GTI are the same bearing as the XUD9 , K.S part No 77097608 . No heavy duty lead copper or silicone bearings have ever really been available as the standard material is good enough to cope . Only a few bearing manufacturers produce these bearings so whatever bearings you buy will be a good quality bearing . Hope this helps
acox99 74 1 Cars Posted January 16, 2007 ok cheers for the advice standard bearings it is then, do you recommend you replace them every season?
Sie 0 Posted January 16, 2007 Ah just re-read you first post , MI bearings are NOT that part No . I would check them at the end of the season because if there is no excessive wear then the extra clearance between the crank and the bearing will give an extra thou of so of clearance to allow more oil in contact with the opposing surfaces and produce less friction . Miles 331 1 Cars Posted January 17, 2007 Longmans sell a lead based big end bearing but only in a std size, but again I have always used the std bearing's and never really had too many problems, The main thing is to get the clearance right, What rod's are you using? The standards are pretty good then? dont want to damage the crank if we're spending a lot of money on it as the aim is for the highest output we can get with money etc.... rescue dude 0 Posted January 17, 2007 If it was me i'd change them every 250-300 miles. You should have no problems if you do this.
