Clicking From The Instrument Panel

My 205 has developed a clicking which goes with the revs coming from behind the counter it self

 

anything serious?

i've had a similar sounding problem which turned out the be the speedo cable

 

is it speed related or rev related?

probably speedo cable then as its not working, how was it solved?

i renewed the cable in the end, but i think the clicking problem was caused as the ferrule in the (speedo) end of the cable had worked loose - the noise went after i pushed it back on. got fed up with the flicking needle though, so replaced the cable eventually.

 

they're only about a tenner and they're pretty simple to fit

 

hope that's the problem with yours anyway

Yep. Speedo cable. Had it do same in my BX16v. An hour & 1/2 to do and a new cable really quite cheap. Dash fiddly though.

Happens occasionally in mine when the odometer gets stuck, soon sorted by jabbing the reset button. Worth a try before you pull the dash apart anyway.

I had this but it was even when you wern't moving so not the speedo cable....

 

I just swapped the the clocks and it went away.
