I might take it round Coombe for a laugh, but it is intended mostly as my daily driver, one of the main benefits of VTEC over tuning an XU etc. I built it principally for personal enjoment, one of my favourite engines in my favourite chassis, once i've smooth out some of the niggles (high idle, jerky throttle, gearstick hits the handbrake, that sort of thing); it should be a delight.

Great Sandy. I love the understated look :)

Is the gearknob a standard trio one? It looks identical to the euro 205 gentry leather one

No, it's the leather Goodwood one, a bit nicer than the plastic Trio affair.

Currently having a beaurocracy struggle! I went to the local VRO to get the tax last week, because it was going from 1124cc to 2156cc, I had to get it changed to the higher rate tax. I bought 12 months and they took my V5 for amendment, no problem I thought; need the docs back for going to France on the 11th though (re-scheduled). Got a letter from DVLA this morning, saying they need documentry evidence of the capacity change! WTF! Why would I lie to cheat myself into paying nearly double the tax??? They have my signature on it don't they? I can understand the need to prove a reduction in tax, but have never been asked for it for an increase before. Madness!

LoL, well I like to do everything by the book, my own fault I know! They seem to have accepted the reciept from the scrappers that supplied the engine. Panic over. It's properly insured as what it is too, wasn't very painful either, under £200!

We just finished the map on the Honda engine in the Trio. It was going spiffing until it got to about 200bhp at the wheels and we couldn't keep it from wheel spinning after that, so the peak figure is somewhere over 200bhp at the wheels, Mark estimated it around 230bhp, relating it to known race engines. The wheels figures on these rollers are typically a bit less than others, for example Neils unusually rapid 106gti gave 116bhp at the wheels on them.

rpm---bhp at wheels

2000---52

2500---65

3750---103

4750---126

5500---155

6000---173

6500---200 (still just about gripping at this point)

7000---200+ (not enough grip to record)

Approximate bhp/tonne is 255.

Am I happy? Oh yes!

If your 309's anything to go by - and suspecting that Joe will probably feel compelled to try and beat the lunacy of your outstanding project - then I genuinely don't think his gorgeous plastic wheel trims would be capable of hanging on. B):(

Apart from seconding the video request, you must also provide us with details of your first sleeper road victory.

DrS :)

Sandy id like to be first in line should you ever suffer injury and have to sell it -not that im jealous and suggesting i wish you get injured.

Well done, a notch above almost everything else out there.

Rob
