Brake Pads Low Warning Light

Recommended Posts

Anton green

My new pads have a lead off them for a dashboard light (low brake pads warning). My car does not appear to have a female lead to plug this bullit connector in to. How can I make this functional? Is it indeed possible to make this functional?

My car is a 1.9

My engine is Mi16 with a 405 loom

Im running a standard dashboard setup

Cheers, Anton

pretty straightforward, its a simple earth contact to complete the circuit system so all you need is a live feed via a bulb in the dash I suppose.

a bit simplistic I agree but you see where i'm coming from.

Yeah, it is a bit simple isnt it!

*Where is the bulb in the dash? is there indeed a bulb/bulb position in the dash?

*Do I have to connect it to the dash using a 'special' peugeot connector of other silly foreign headache inducing device?

*How simple is it to get behind the dash?-Will I struggle to wire things up without disturbing everything and making my car upset with me (which is very bad)?

Cheers! Anton

If I remember crrectly there is a bulb for each of the front brakes. I havent got my manual handy so im not definate on that.

I would use the pug connector.

Taking the dash apart isnt hard but can be time consuming. Us ethe haynes manual as it has some good pointers. The main thing is try not to break any of the fixing lugs on the platic fasia as it will just rattle if you do

my car has the connectors lying in the engine bay, the l/h one comes through the bulkhead with the rest of the loom, check it isnt tucked up out of the way there.

Will do WP.

I'll try to locate the original wires first, I presume all 205's had this feature installed? If not it seems simple enough to fashion something.

There is a position on the dash which lights up in this shape (O) which is the one I belive. Is there a dedicated connector for this bulb only, or is it a communal one which I will need to monkey about with? Thanks! A

The original wires always corrode and fall off. Personally I just cut of the wire from the pad and use the Mk1 eyeball every so often.

Look for a wire clipped to the front shock. Also there should be an earth connected to the top of each strut (under the bonnet) to complete the circuit.

Thats what those earths do at the top of the strut!!

There's no wire clipped to the front shock, would you know where this wire is meant to appear from so I can search for it? (where it comes through the bulkhead maybe? Or where it is routed?)
