GLPoomobile 958 Posted January 9, 2007 Ages ago I seperated a wishbone joint from a hub whilst the driveshaft was still attached (couldn't get the hub nut off!) which resulted in the inner CV popping apart (the long driveshaft). Can this be easily popped back together or is the CV joint effectively scrap? The boot is still in tact. 1.9 shaft by the way.
welshpug 1,676 Posted January 9, 2007 they are tripod joints and as such are designed to slide in and out, so yep it'll go back together just like that.

Rik 0 Posted January 9, 2007 Could you get a new bearing kit and re-build a CV joint?
welshpug 1,676 Posted January 9, 2007 never known to be any spares available, least at a decent price. outer joints are available for about 75% of the cost of a complete shaft last time I checked.
