Cv Joints

Recommended Posts

GLPoomobile

Ages ago I seperated a wishbone joint from a hub whilst the driveshaft was still attached (couldn't get the hub nut off!) which resulted in the inner CV popping apart (the long driveshaft).

Can this be easily popped back together or is the CV joint effectively scrap? The boot is still in tact.

1.9 shaft by the way.

they are tripod joints and as such are designed to slide in and out, so yep it'll go back together just like that.

unless the bearings have come apart, in which case is effectively scrap unless you can find all the roller bearings and re-assemble them

Could you get a new bearing kit and re-build a CV joint?

never known to be any spares available, least at a decent price.

outer joints are available for about 75% of the cost of a complete shaft last time I checked.
