Adjustable Anti Roll Bar

Recommended Posts

engine killer

this is what i have found from my friend's 206 1.6. the arb it externally fitted and is "adjustable" too.

it is from a company called whiteline, there are 4 holes on each side that give quite a wide range adjustablility. and now they have 20mm arb for 205 too.

oops, didn't know that i am not allowed to post picture. :D

but if you are looking for adjustable arb, you may try "whiteline" and i think it should cost about GBP100-GBP130.

you guys will be pleased to know that I will have exclusive distribution on these (the part exists because of me !) I've been waiting till they were in the UK before I did a 205 drivers special. they are due around the end of January.

ahh I see.....

any idea if they will work with 309 beams or if there are plans for one that will?

Whiteline are really popular with the BMW guys here... Lots of the quick E30s use the front/rear strut braces and swaybars with good results. They have a really good reputation, so it will be interesting to see how the pug stuff goes.

how much longer is the 309 beam again? it may just work with the droplinks taking up the extra width. you may need a longer bolt or need to run them at an angle. I'd happily supply one and take it back if you return undamaged if you can't get it to work.

nice one julian.

Looks like they are only 20mm thick though ? SO I assume you can adjust the tension downwards from what you'd get from the OE bar ?

any one got a picture? I'm struggling to visualize how this works on the 205's axle!

it's a 20mm bar in addition to the 19mm bar. this might sound like too much but I would say it will be something like equivalent of fitting a conventional peugeot 22mm bar on lowest setting and say 25mm bar on highest setting.

also watch this space as the next product I'm trying to get them to make is torsion bars !!

the real beauty of this bar of course is the adjustment - eg it starts raining at a circuit you can do something about it!

sounds fantastic

is there planned for a front version too ? that's where i'd expect the need for more adjustment

not sure. If it were me I would modify the existing front bar. you could easily modify the bar (need to heat it up - flatten the ends - drill holes to suit) you could still use OE links.

Sounds like a nice possible offering from BalanceMotorsport  Front ARB conversion to adjustable

i think it may be past the power of my blow torch ! probably take hours and hours ! if the demand is there I reckon I could get Whiteline to make an adjustable front bar. need to work out what size people wanted.

i know a lot of subaru drivers that swear by whiteline.

personally i'd want something that was provided a range from less stiff than standard to more stiff than standard, but if this was too much something that at least started at standard and got stiffer.

i agree. probably a 1mm thicker bar with a range of adjustment would do this. personally i'm not convinced of the wisdom of a big front bar - worse traction is the downside usually, and there's a shortage of traction on 205's anyway. However I know XSport do a 25mm front bar which they say has worked really well on their race cars...I suspect though you would need a shed load of rear rate to balance it and these cars probably have a diff as well, slicks etc etc so some of the negative effects are reduced.

I think the 309 beam is about 50mm wider than the 205 one.

Looking at the 206 one above it might be possible to bolt the droplinks to the outside of the arb instead of the inside to gain the extra width.

yep that'd work. those links can run at pretty steep angles as well by nature of their design. also a range of universal rose jointed links are also available for those that want even more roll stiffness and a posh appearance.

JERAM

the 205 bar is a fair bit diff from the 206 one, it mounts on to either side of the axle tube then connects to the lower shocker mount.

there will be no probs fitting it to a 309 axle, this was taken into consideration before we asked for it to be produced. a simple spacer is all that is required

i will post pics when my one is fitted, and advise how it performs.

it will then be avail for the dealers to order. :)

Hi Jeram - good to see new faces working at Whiteline ! Job's a great guy! he said my exclusivity on this is limited to the first batch only though :D Still hopefully we can ensure they all go to 205 Drivers at a special rate !

What have these been tested on Julian? Guessing they are aimed more at roads cars?
