Indicators (both Sides) Intermittent Faults

Recommended Posts

Guest Dan205

Hello all,

Recently my 205 (Trio S :) ) has developed an intermittent problem with indicator selection. Every so often it just stops working. The indicator bulbs themselves are fine and they come on fine when you press the hazard lights button.

I've checked the connection to the indicator stalk (after much toing and froing) and all seems to be connected properly. On occasion, using the hazard lights then turning them off again has made the indicators come back to life, but not always.

Sometimes you hear a solitary click come out of the little clicker box in the fuse cabinet in the glove box. Not always though.

This is driving me dotty, for short trips I can get by without the indicators but I'm scared to go anywhere far! Help lest I go to the garage to get bummed. :(

it may be a faulty stalk but if its both sides then the hazard switch could be the culprit. It can stop the indicators working if its faulty, in fact the indicators dont work at all if the hazard switch is unplugged, it actually forms part of the circuit.

As confirmed by searching these boards (I should've had more faith in the forums, its been covered dozens of times) - it was in fact the connectors at the back of the hazard switch disconnecting the whole thing. Good old French engineering eh :(

I would say "its fixed now" but its not quite - but I know which switch to punch when it happens again :)
