miamistu 1 Posted December 28, 2006 Just a topic of interest really based on our findings with my Mi16 engine. The engine's had a rebuild with new bearings wherever they could be replaced and a crank re-grind, so it was a bit of a shock/disappointment to see that the oil pressure gauge in the car (the standard one) was only showing up to the first bar, and dropping away to practically nothing when the engine's warm. So, before assuming the worst, I bought a mechanical gauge and the various adaptors to get it to fit to block and then started it up to see what's actually what with my precious oil pressure. The electronic gauge in the car still reads to about the first bar (no surprise there) but the mechanical one goes pretty much straight to 60psi when cold and on idle, and drops to about 25psi or so when hot, which is much more like it Just wonder how far out everybody's gauges are! I know they're not calibrated on the dash, but having it pointing to zero is pretty alarming!
jackherer 543 Posted December 28, 2006 the senders fail fairly regularly and the wiring isn't up to much either.
