16v205 9 Posted December 27, 2006 Hi Looking for a set of 87/88mm forged pistons for my gti-6 engine and whilst looking on the net stumbled across these.. http://www.forgedpistons.co.uk/Products/Product.asp?id=147 Has ayone used a set of pistons from this supplier before? They seem reasonably priced but would like to hear back off anyone that knows Cheers Rich
Sandy 191 Posted December 27, 2006 A friend of mine used them in a 245bhp CooperS engine he's just built. The first set weren't right (I can't remember why), but they responded quickly and turned around another set quickly which are fine, without any agro. cybernck 402 1 Cars Posted December 27, 2006 someone on my T16 forum has purchased a set of Wossner forged pistons recently. they've given them good reviews in terms of fitting etc iirc.
James_R 3 Posted December 27, 2006 these are the ones I was looking at before completely changing my mind on bottom ends, 12.2:1 with an 86mm which put me right off.
petert 586 Posted December 27, 2006 It's interesting that they quote the same part no. for GTi6 and S16. I thought the GTi6 had pressed pins and the S16 full floating? Also, the comp. heights are completely different due to different rod lengths.
Malachy 0 Posted December 27, 2006 (edited) It's interesting that they quote the same part no. for GTi6 and S16. I thought the GTi6 had pressed pins and the S16 full floating? Also, the comp. heights are completely different due to different rod lengths. they quote the power figure, in some european countries the s16 was the gti6, eg you had the older s16 (what we call s16 in uk) 150bhp 5speed and then the 167bhp 6speed s16 (what we call gti6 in uk) from 1996 much like some of the 106 gtis were called s16s in some european countries this is the earlier s16 you are refering to here http://www.forgedpistons.co.uk/products/product.asp?id=146 a diferent part number the list of pug pistons is here http://www.forgedpistons.co.uk/Products/pr...departmentid=20 Edited December 27, 2006 by Malachy
