Guest BrainFluid Posted December 21, 2006 (edited) You might as well replace the lot if your getting new drums. Edited December 21, 2006 by BrainFluid
wildejon 7 Posted December 21, 2006 Definitely worth doing everything while you have the drums off, its probably the least fun job I have done so far... Good learning experience though.
Rippthrough 98 Posted December 21, 2006 (edited) Don't come assembled, you can push them in yourself with a big bolts and some sockets though. -Phillip Edited December 21, 2006 by Rippthrough
pugbliss 0 Posted December 22, 2006 ripthrough.... what do you you mean??????
Guest BrainFluid Posted December 22, 2006 (edited) He means make an improvised 'puller'. Put a bolt through a large socket, then through the bearing, then through the drum, then through a washer on the other side of the drum, put a nut on the bolt and as you tighten the nut it will 'pull' the bearing into place. Catch my drift mate? EDIT: Not absolutly neccasary tho' . Plenty of grease and they will squeeze in with just yo fingers pusing them. welshpug 1,657 Posted December 22, 2006 . Plenty of grease and they will squeeze in with just yo fingers pusing them. how big are your hands and forearms? the tolerances must vary a littel if you got some in like that, I had to get a press on mine and whack half a ton on them! Rippthrough 98 Posted December 22, 2006 Gonna say, mine needed 3 tons of pressure!
Guest BrainFluid Posted December 28, 2006 huh....? Were just talking about the wheel bearings that sit inside the drum are we not? Mine seemed to just slip in there with no bother at all..but it was a good tight fit

Guest BrainFluid Posted December 29, 2006 ...so the drum doesn't spin around the casing and fry the bearing... Funny you should say that as thats exactly what happened to me today...Total bearing failure at 50 miles per hour on the left hand rear...Only just managed to keep controll of the car as the wheel locked up and skidded down the road. Smoke and all. I quess the bearings I got were ever slightly too small? Man am I going to have a stern word with my local motor factors. Not happy.
