PugAddict 0 Posted December 18, 2006 Take a look............. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j110/dalesen/100_0018.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j110/dalesen/100_0017.jpg What a state lol I'm having problems with running my GTi for longer than 10mins or so having just rebuilt the engine. Just done a big old SEARCH through old posts and it seems this plug may well be the place to start!! I understand (courtesy of one of Grahams old posts) that these wires are: Starter solenoid - Oil pressure sender - Low oil pressure stop switch - Alternator field wire - Water temp - Water temp warning switch - Oil temp switch - .....BUT WHICH COLOUR CORRESPONDS TO WHICH WIRE? And which two am I missing? I've bought these to help me in my plight, any tips on fitting them? http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j110/dalesen/100_0025.jpg Cheers D

I got the Superseal parts from a local motor factors place in Milton Keynes (Motorserv) for the tidy sum of £13. Easypug: Cheers for your help, it's the thought that counts Can anyone break down my 7 wire multiplug in a similar way so i know which colour corresponds to each of these: Starter solenoid - Oil pressure sender - Low oil pressure stop switch - Alternator field wire - Water temp - Water temp warning switch - Oil temp switch - Cheers guys
PugAddict 0 Posted December 20, 2006 Can anyone shed any more light on which wire is which?
easypug 0 Posted December 20, 2006 You could just follow them from the plug to where there located on the enigne. Should be fairly straight foward...
futura 3 Posted December 20, 2006 (edited) Hope that helps a little: From the right on the new connector: pin1=Brown=7A pin2=White=not readable pin3=White=30A pin4=Grey=50A (I think) -- original pin5=Blue or green=46 is unwired on pic pin6=Yellow=47 pin7=Red=47A If you don't already have some get proper ratchets to fit the connectors. Check that you insert the pins the right way to ensure they are secured once in. Once all pins are in, slide down the red plastic bit clamps the pins in place. You may need to push hard when plugin the male and female together. Once fitted it looks like this Edited December 20, 2006 by futura

pug_ham 245 3 Cars Posted December 21, 2006 AFAIK in order, pin 1-7; 7A; Brown, Alternator. 30A; Orange, Oil pressure switch. 30R; White Oil temp sender. (Oil temperature sender wire is white(ish), sheathed & has a ring terminal on the end so it can't be mixed up.) 30B; Grey, Oil pressure sender. 46A; Blue, Starter solenoid (usually thicker than the rest). 47; Yellow, coolant temp switch. (bigger one at back of thermostat housing iirc) 47A; Red, coolant temp guage sender unit. Graham.
