tidypug 5 2 Cars Posted December 16, 2006 Just a quick question, should you be able to turn your lights on with no keys in the ignition? I thought it was because of the hids i've fitted so unplugged them and put in the old bulbs. Still the same. I can have side lights on, dipped and main with out the keys even being in the ingition. Could it be a knackered ignition barrel?
easypug 0 Posted December 16, 2006 Yes you can turn lights on without the keys being in the ignition. Although i thought main beam was on the ignition circuit if someone can confirm that one?
Ahl 4 Posted December 16, 2006 Yeah, you can turn the lights on with ignition off, but the main beam will only flash - it won't stay on. (In my car anyway, 1990 1.9 8v)
ablister 31 Posted December 16, 2006 they are designed to do that in case you park your car and want to leave your lights on eg parking on a main road. Nothing to worry about
