Livelee 0 Posted December 10, 2006 What's the cheapest way of getting some negative camber on the front of a 309 GTi? Thanks Dan
Sandy 191 Posted December 10, 2006 Eccentric top mounts will allow about 0.5 degrees and some castor without the springs touching the inner wings. Works pretty well (my Trio is currently like that).

Livelee 0 Posted December 10, 2006 whats the price of a 205 shell where you live? Even if they were free the hassle makes it pointless IMHO. With the same driver and equipment how much quicker would a 205 be over a 309 round a track? If you tell me 5 seconds I might consider it ;-)
smckeown 1 Posted December 10, 2006 i'd assume they were the same, 205 lighter but 309 longer/better wheelbase ??

Livelee 0 Posted December 10, 2006 i'd assume they were the same, 205 lighter but 309 longer/better wheelbase ?? Yes i've always been of the opinion there would be bugger all difference in the real world. Any way, i'm sure some camber on the front would make me faster and if it can be had cheaply then I want some.
Sandy 191 Posted December 10, 2006 The 309 is a better handling car period IMO, but I don't expect people to agree!
welshpug 1,657 Posted December 10, 2006 I do and I have a 205 and a 405 ! havent even driven it with a fixed beam yet!
Henry 1.9GTi 36 Posted December 11, 2006 for the comp brake stuff i take it 205 top mount ADJ is the one to look at, I was under the impression you needed coilovers for eccentric top mounts? or is this simply a spring/bodywork clearance issue? Thanks. Henry.
Sandy 191 Posted December 11, 2006 Slight mod needed on the sleeve nuts, the shank needs to be cut deeper to ensure plenty thread on the damper top (forgot that bit sorry!). I'm running mine on normal springs, just junk the donut and top plate.
niklas 1 Posted December 11, 2006 The 309 is a better handling car period IMO, but I don't expect people to agree! I guess it's more a matter of driver preferences and confidence. Some drivers are faster in the 309 and some are faster in the 205! The more aggressive you dare to drive, the faster you will be...
TT205 42 Posted December 11, 2006 I've got some 309 front arms that have been lengthened - I think by 11mm - would have to check. I might sell them but it would be more than £

COuld you expand on it a bit more please. Ta

Sandy 191 Posted December 11, 2006 The sleeve nuts are the the right outside diameter to be a tight fit inside the spherical bearing in the top mount, but with standard length dampers they don't screw down the thread far enough before the hex nut section contacts the bearing. If you get them machined so that some of the hex nut part is cut down to the sleeve diameter, they screw down further, to a safer fit on the damper thread. I'm sure my mechanically minded dad will be able to pick the bones out of that and come up with something close to being right. So to confirm all I need is: CMB 0238 Peugeot 205 ADJ for £39 (hopefully for a pair)http://www.compbrake.co.uk/price%20list.pdf And you were happy that this made a difference to the front end on yoor 309? Thanks Dan
Sandy 191 Posted December 11, 2006 I was delighted with it, slightly improved steering feel and better front end grip. I reckon that price is probably each though.

If their phone had not been engaged ALL DAY then i'd be able to find out the price.
