1.9 Gti Bad Hesitation

Recommended Posts

Guest cupra_matt

Hi everyone.

We have a problem with the GTI. It has a rather nasty hesitation when trying too accelarate. Its like the ignition has been totally cut and almost puts you throught the windscreen.

I have done a search on here and it seems it could be the ignition amp, is this common.?

Any help and advice would be appriciated as this is stopping it from being a really nice little car.

PS, it has a new air mass meter on it and i have setup the fuelling on the gas analyiser.

Thanks

Matt

By the amount of topics on Kangaroo'n I'd said it was quite common :P

Hello and welcome to the Forum BTW :)

See if you can get a known good ignition amp to try first, if that dont cure it then check over all the ignition parts.Spark plugs, HT leads etc...also clean out the TPS ( Throttle position switch ), check the VAC advance. and also the throlttle cable adjustment.

As you say the fuellings ok, so it must be one of the others up top.

Good luck:)

Sam.

Check your dizzy fly lead as this often breaks down, could also be your coil breaking down as well as a faulty ignition amp. As Sam says check your TPS and make sure it clicks.

Check all parts of the ignition system, plugs, lead for correct order & fitment, dizzy cap & rotor arm, coil wiring, ignition amp but also the earth strap on gearbox. If thats loose you get this type of problem when it breaks the connection as the engine moves.

You know the earth strap on the gearbox? Well where does the other end of it go?
