A Few More Electrical Questions

Recommended Posts

Hello,

it's been a while since i started my little overhaul project on the 205, but it seems that it is finally starting to come to an end (hopefully).

I have a question.. as I understand it, the carbed models don't have a tachymetric relay and just use a relay for the fuel pump. Is that correct?

Also, I noticed the battery is being drained even no keys in the ignition (and headlights off, of course ), and I tracked it down to fuse #8 (horn/fog lights) - 0.01A (negligible -- right?) and fuse #9 (electric windows) - 0.14A. So these circuits are drawing current when they're not supposed to. Whenever I connected the battery with fuse #9 in place, the relay above it would click. Is it broken? How could I check? More importantly, what can I replace it with? It has 'Ford' written on it, so it's been changed before, but what should I replace it with? I have 2 off the GTi I stripped for parts.. can I use any of those? (yellow = current Ford one, green = Peugeot (?) ones from the GTi)

Now, for the loose wires:

1) In the engine bay:

-there's a black wire with M20 written on it. I assume it's a ground wire, but I don't know where to plug it in...

-there's a green wire with no number on it near the above mentioned wire.. also unplugged.

-a red multiplug with 2 wires leading to it below the front left headlight, near the brown fan test multiplug. Again, no wire numbers...

2) Inside:

-I unplugged a blue plug with a green wire in it from the front of the drivers' door. When I wanted to plug it back in, I noticed there are 2 slots which can take the plug, right next to eachother. I don't know whether they're the same thing (like an earth) because I can't see in there. Anyone know what it is for?

-I have a wire named 6J with a label on it marked '92' hanging over the fusebox. Anyone know what it is for? There's a one slot empty space in the fuse box, but the plug is too big for it... Anyone know what the spot is for?

Still with me? ;) Sorry for the long post. I've posted some of these questions before, but didn't get a definitive answer, so I hope nobody minds me posting them again.

Thanks!

Can only answer the question about the clicking relay, thats what they do when they are working mate. When you hear the click-click of your indicators for example that is a relay clicking on and off.

...but mine clicked when I connected the battery. It was the only one clicking, so I assumed it was broken. I replaced it, the replacement doesn't click anymore, however, I haven't tried the windows either, so it might be broken as well. I'll try them when I get a chance to work on the car again next week (the buttons and panels are not back in yet). Thanks!
