veloce200 3 Posted November 28, 2006 lifter pumped up? causing big clearance and possibly more bent valves -over-revved?
maxi 36 1 Cars Posted November 28, 2006 £10 says it has inducted one of the throttle butterfly screws, they have a habit of doing this. Take the TB to AFM pipe off and look at the butterflies in the TB, if a screw is missing I would say thats what is tapping around destroying the piston, valves, and everything else in the particular cylinder. 's ok though, engine should be good for another 100k, always look on the bright side! al
boombang 2 Posted November 28, 2006 (edited) As above - I worked at a Pug specialist, lad brought his car in on a trailer saying bottom end had gone. Didn't risk starting it and rebuilt bottom end but everything looked pretty good. He didn't want head off as couldn't afford it but when back together it started tapping we stripped down to find the bolt in there. migti 0 Posted December 1, 2006 Just to update on this one. All the butterfly screws still there, further strip required i think!! Cheers
maxi 36 1 Cars Posted December 2, 2006 Mine also inducted a piece of metal going up the M3 on the way back from Falmouth......drove it home on 3 cylinders. I thought it was just a plug or lead had f***ed up, I replaced them, started it up and it rattled like hell..... The drive home had got the metal so hot it had stuck to the combustion chamber or top of the piston, the time it took to change bits was enough for it to cool down and become unstuck. Things do get through air filters. Maxi
