Catcam 288°

Recommended Posts

sven_ilegems

Hello,

I have a fairly std 1.9 8v (70.000 miles), except for a catcam with the folowing spec's:

**************************

part number 4900312

VALVE TIMING: 288°

valve lift INLET: 11.48mm EXHAUST: 11.48mm

Inlet open 38° BTDC inlet closed 70°ABDC

Exhaust open 74°BBDC inlet closed 34°ATDC

Valve lift at TDC: INLET: 2.92mm

valve lift at TDC: EXHAUST: 2.44mm

**************************

I was planning to switch over to carbs this winter, but want to know first what this cam does to my car... (as it seems to have lots of duration, but no extra lift)...

Now: powerband is smooth until 6500r/m with a little rough idling under 1300r/m

have you had it tested on a rolling road for an indication of how it goes?

No, I don't have any RR figures...

And yes, I also noticed that the particular number doesn't exist on their site... (allthough I have papers here from catcam with that number on it...)

Does anyone know what the karakteristics are of a camshaft with more duration but equal lift?

(I think the std 1.9 camshaft's lift is 11.5mm... right??)

may be a slightly daft answer, but turn the key and drive it! you will soon discover the characteristics when you give it some stick.
