dd_156ar 0 Posted November 24, 2006 Since purchasing my 1.9 GTI I have been pretty sure the vacuum advance on the distributor hasn't been working. The patented 'suck test' appeared to prove that so it was on with a new one earlier this week. Today is the first chance I've had to play with the car since the new unit went on and what a difference it has made! It has allowed me to advance the ignition so I can take advantage of the Shell V Power that it is run on. It still needs setting up properly but my rudimentary - advance the ignition until it pinks and then back it off a bit method - seems to have unleashed some extra ponies to play with. Anyway, for the small outlay of a new unit, I definitely recommend replacing this wee beastie if yours isn't working. Dan
