Edp 67 3 Cars Posted November 13, 2006 I bought this gearbox not knowing whether its BE1 or BE3, If it turns out to be BE1 can the internals be put into a BE3 casing without much of a struggle? It has XU 30 printed on it and also 87 which leads me to believe its a BE1. Opinions? A GEARBOX Cheers
Ryan 99 Posted November 13, 2006 (edited) Definitely a BE1 if it's a 1987. The changover wasn't until 1989. The pic confirms it - it has the BE1 selector arm (the one that moves in and out when you move the other one). Being an mi16 box means it isn't such a big deal to change over though. All mi16 boxes (BE1 and BE3) can use the 205 BE3 clutch pedal and mechanism, so it's only the gearstick that needs sorting. Miles 331 1 Cars Posted November 14, 2006 Yep BE1 16v box from a BX at a guess as the reverse cable hole has the breather in it, Ryan's said most thing's, But the internal's can't really be changed without some new parts but you shouldn't need to
