Andy_C 50 Posted November 10, 2006 Can't seem to get the end off Seriously, trying to remove gear knob from lever and I'll be buggered if I can figure it out. Bought a new gaiter and managed to get the surround unscrewed - and promptly snapped several of the clips holding the gaiter in but still can't remove the actual gearknob. Anyone? KRISKARRERA 2 1 Cars Posted November 11, 2006 Can needing to pull on it very hard crack the plastic bit the bottom of the gear shaft is held in by?
Edp 67 3 Cars Posted November 11, 2006 just be careful, you don't want it to hit you in the face! seriously. I did this once, it was like something out of a carry on film. Luckily no one saw me I find turning the knob and pulling at the same time will get the bugger off, just keep your face out of the way. Ed

Ed Or put a large open ended spanner around the gearstick with the faces against the knob and wallop with a hammer, again, don't position your face directly above...... Hilgie 16 2 Cars Posted November 11, 2006 Did this too in a scrapyard once...it must have been quite comical as it resulted in a bloody nose and a huge dent in the roof.
