eob 7 Posted November 6, 2006 I have a faint memory when I built my XSI that the battery tray just came out after removing four bolts, however, on my '92 GTi, it appears to be both bolted and welded in, what the hell is going on there?? :S
hengti 2 Posted November 6, 2006 it's bonded on using some sort of panel adhesive give it a good whack - it'll break the bond easily enough

Anthony 1,003 Posted November 6, 2006 Not welded from the factory that I've ever seen - just the four bolts - but who knows what's happened to your car in the 14 years odd since it rolled off the production line...

True... it just will not f**king come off. I know I can cut and pry it off but I only wanted to de-rust it and removed a sheared battery clamp bolt, not resolve myself to a fortnight of zinc primer and tears
Anthony 1,003 Posted November 7, 2006 I've had atleast one that was pretty well stuck on though, and required a hefty stamp to seperate it from the shell...
